Yes, it has a huge roof. And the BAUERNBOGEN Abtenau needs one. Because it brings many things together beneath it: people, nature, high-quality products, quality time, an experience of architecture and atmosphere, a serious commitment to animal welfare and biodiversity, exchange and further education, lived regionality. At the BAUERNBOGEN, you can browse and linger. Have a coffee, discover your new favorite shampoo, chat, eat one more doughnut than planned. In Italy, people celebrate small and big breaks – we can do that here too.
When something truly matters, we build a house for it
In 2023, a small team of private individuals, together with architect Chris Precht Studio Precht, Werfen, realized the BAUERNBOGEN Abtenau. The regionally common pitched roof is transformed into a bold sculptural interpretation. Simple forms, plenty of wood and natural materials create a high-quality, homely and relaxed spatial experience. Inside, a positive tension seems ready to unfold toward the visitor.

In the Heart of the Valley
The BAUERNBOGEN is centrally located in Abtenau. At over 700 meters, a wide valley basin, gentle hills and rugged mountain ranges form a gem in the Lammertal valley. Only 15 minutes away: the Postalm – Europe’s second-largest alpine pasture area. There, our animals breathe mountain air in summer and eat what is good for them. Dachstein and Bischofsmütze greet from afar.
The mountain goats like it here. But cows, sheep, horses and pigs also find a grazing paradise on the Postalm during the summer months.
